Overview #

Aspectium Opportunity Workspace is a local-data application for managing job searches. All data is stored on your device, not in the cloud.

Getting Started #

When you first open the application, demo data is created so you can explore the interface.

First-run setup

  1. Open the application.

    Demo opportunities, resumes, and sourcing sessions are created automatically.

  2. Explore the interface.

    Navigate using the sidebar. Edit demo data freely. In the desktop edition, editing demo data does not start the trial.

  3. Remove demo data when ready.

    Click Remove Demo Data in the top bar. This deletes all demo records. Channels are kept.

  4. Create your first opportunity.

    Click Add Opportunity or Import Job Posting for AI-assisted intake.

  5. Create a backup.

    Go to Settings > Backup & Restore to protect your data early.

Web edition: On first launch, choose Persistent to keep data between sessions, or Temporary/Demo to start fresh each time. See Data Storage.

Opportunities #

Opportunities represent job leads, contracts, or consulting prospects you are tracking.

Creating an opportunity

  1. Click Add Opportunity or Import Job Posting.

    For AI-assisted import, paste a job posting and click Analyze. Sign-in is required for AI features.

  2. Fill in opportunity details.

    Enter job title, company name, status, due date, and other fields. Click the edit icon in each section to modify.

  3. Link a resume (optional).

    Select a resume from the dropdown in Application Details. See Resumes.

  4. Add notes and job description.

    Use the Notes section for dated notes. The Job Description section shows AI-processed or original text.

  5. Save changes.

    Changes are saved automatically as you edit each section.

AI import: Only the pasted job-posting text is sent for processing. Your workspace data is not sent. Always verify AI-extracted data before importing. AI usage is currently free with usage limits.

Opportunity fields

Resumes #

Resume records track different versions of your resume and link them to opportunities.

Creating a resume

  1. Go to the Resumes page.

    Click Resumes in the sidebar.

  2. Click Add Resume.

    Opens the resume detail form.

  3. Fill in resume details.

    Enter version name (required), date (required), and description.

  4. Attach a file or URL (optional).

    Upload a resume file or paste a URL to the hosted resume.

  5. Save the resume.

    Click Save to return to the Resumes list.

Linking resumes to opportunities

When editing an opportunity, select a resume from the dropdown in the Application Details section. The opportunity record will show which resume was used.

Archiving resumes

Instead of deleting old resume versions, archive them. Archived resumes are hidden from the main list but can be restored if needed. Click the archive icon on a resume card to archive it.

Sourcing #

Sourcing sessions record where and how you searched for opportunities. They do not apply to jobs automatically.

Creating a sourcing session

  1. Click New Sourcing Session.

    Opens the sourcing session wizard.

  2. Select a channel.

    Choose from your configured channels. See Channels.

  3. Enter keywords and notes.

    Enter search keywords (e.g., "sales associate"). Add notes about filters used or results found.

  4. Save the session.

    The session is added to your sourcing history.

Search Again

Click Search Again on an active search or history entry to create a new session with the channel and keywords pre-filled. If the channel was archived, it is restored automatically.

Channels #

Channels represent sources where you find opportunities and conduct searches.

System channels

Pre-configured channels for popular job boards are provided. These cannot be edited or deleted, but they can be archived.

Custom channels

Click Add Channel to create custom channels. Enter a name, type, website URL, and optional search URL template.

Deleting channels: A channel with sourcing history or opportunity references cannot be deleted. Archive it instead.

Data Storage #

All data is stored locally on your device. Signing in does not upload workspace data to Aspectium servers.

  • Data is stored in a local SQLite database.
  • Database location: %LOCALAPPDATA%aspectium-owdb.sqlite3 (Windows)
  • Data persists until you delete it or uninstall the application.
  • The Settings page shows the database file path and size.

No account is required for core tracking. Sign-in is only needed for AI-assisted import and account management.

Trial & Licensing #

Licensing depends on the edition you are using.

Free trial

14-day trial starts when you create your first non-demo record. Editing demo data does not start the trial.

Windows Store subscription

Subscription purchased through Microsoft Store.

Perpetual license

Coming soon for direct-download purchases from Aspectium website.

When trial or subscription ends

  • Existing data is not deleted.
  • You can view, edit, search, backup, restore, archive, and delete existing records.
  • Creating new records requires an active trial or subscription.

Refreshing license status

After purchasing, click Refresh License in Settings > About, or restart the app.

Backup & Restore #

Backup files are local ZIP archives containing app data, settings, and file attachments.

  • Backup uses a file-save dialog to choose location.
  • Restore uses a file-open dialog to select backup file.
  • Available even after trial or subscription expires.

Creating a backup

  1. Go to Settings > Backup & Restore.
  2. Click Create Backup.

    Desktop: Choose save location. Web: File downloads to your Downloads folder.

  3. Store the backup safely.

    Keep backup files in a secure location. They are not encrypted.

Restoring from backup

  1. Go to Settings > Backup & Restore.
  2. Click Restore Backup.

    Select a backup file created by this application.

  3. Confirm the restore.

    Restore overwrites all current data. This cannot be undone.

Warning: Restoring a backup overwrites all current app data. Create a backup of current data first if needed.

Account & Privacy #

Your workspace data stays on your device.

When sign-in is required

What sign-in does not do

Signing in does not upload opportunities, resumes, notes, attachments, or sourcing history to Aspectium servers.

AI data handling

Only the pasted job-posting text is sent for AI processing. Your full workspace data is not sent.

Telemetry

Anonymous telemetry collection is optional. Enable or disable it in Settings.

Troubleshooting #

Common issues and solutions.

Data was lost after using Temporary/Demo mode.
In Temporary/Demo mode, local changes are cleared on the next app start. Switch to Persistent mode to keep data between sessions.
License does not update after purchase.
In the desktop edition, go to Settings > About and click Refresh License. You can also restart the app.
Backup is not available.
In the web edition, backup requires Persistent mode. Switch from Temporary/Demo mode to Persistent mode first.
AI analysis shows an error.
AI analysis may fail due to server issues, quota limits, or unprocessable text. Try again later or create the opportunity manually.
Cannot create new records.
In the desktop edition, creating new records requires an active trial or subscription. After expiration, you can still view, edit, and backup existing data. The web edition is free.
